What is the hottest front-end tech these days?

I don’t know what the hottest is but recently I’m more and more interested in PWA (Progressive Web Apps). They’re web apps that can be used as native applications on phones. I initially thought they’re going to be just a passing trend, but it seems they’re still going strong. Now I’m curious how far they can go!

What is a key attribute of a great UI, in your opinion?

A UI is never great without an equally good UX. Aesthetics are important, sure, but if a product is not fast and its features are not easy to access or understand, then aesthetics become a burden. I appreciate inventive UX solutions that make apps more intuitive, and I like working on things that feel good to use.

What's your favorite front-end hack?

A hack is by definition ‘the lesser evil’ at best, so it’s not really something I’m a big fan of! I always discourage people from using hacks as they usually result in more trouble down the line. Coherent, well-designed solutions are not built using hacks.

What’s your comfort food?

A good, rare steak usually makes me smile, but on some days, I really need a brownie… or anything with chocolate, really!

What's on your "bucket list"?

In no particular order: I want to visit Japan (as well as other East Asian countries, but Japan has top priority on the list), drive a race car on a professional racetrack and deadlift a barbell equal to my own weight. I’ve almost achieved the last one right before the COVID outbreak, but now it’s going to take some extra work to cross it off the list…
