GewinnArena, the German favorite gaming hub, blends TV content with online-exclusive games. New digital formats attract TV viewers and make them interact with gaming content in new ways.

intive was asked to ramp up the web application by improving the technical concept and design and completely rebuilding the platform. A seamless migration of the userbase from the old service to the redesigned application was also part of the project, and one of the main challenges.

The new GewinnArena is a prime example of a mobile-first approach and user-centric responsive web design. The feature set enables easy game discovery and access to profile info, simplified coin purchase and subscription, and comfortable participation in all competitions. Designers paid special attention to a clear information architecture and intuitive patterns that foster engagement.

Light as a feather

The technical concept consists of a lightweight cloud architecture with a headless CMS. The user front-end is a progressive web application based on React.JS and the backend consists of microservices developed with Spring Boot Java in an AWS environment. The platform seamlessly connects with all external parties and offers fast performance.

Since the relaunch in May 2020, the platform has been enjoying great results with a 100% increase in the number unique users monthly, a 40% increase in usage and new registration growth of 80%.

The refreshed GewinnArena joins all our successful digital offerings. intive’s experts redesigned and rebuilt the application in less than 6 months bringing us a future-oriented functional product that realizes our brand’s multi-channel philosophy through user-centric design.
