intive’s Social Impact in 2020: Digital Inclusion and Diversity

Munich, Germany – January 11, 2021 – intive presented today an overview of its CSR activities and progress against the company’s sustainability goals in 2020. Maintaining social accountability to stakeholders and local communities the organization shared its efforts aimed at integrating CSR into the business and contributing to digital inclusion and diversity.

Amidst the ongoing crisis caused by COVID-19, intive placed the company’s global social responsibility focus on fighting the pandemic by leveraging its resources and capabilities. In spring 2020, intive’s volunteers in Argentina teamed up with 7 other tech companies to develop the CuidAR– an app that allows for self-diagnosis as well as geolocates patients who are COVID-19 positive to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the region.

Another important part of intive’s volunteering activities is the “Do Good Apps Program” – an initiative, which supports social impact projects around the world by volunteering professional software development skills to good causes. In 2020, intive’s specialists in Poland developed the GoRescuerApp – designed for the Medical Rescue Services Group of Polish Red Cross (Wroclaw branch) to digitalize and facilitate the management of the rescuers’ work. At the same time, intive’s developers in Argentina built the Masseuse App – a scheduling software that helps blind or visually impaired massage therapists connect with their clients. Both apps in the future can be used by wider groups free of charge.

Moreover, in line with its digital inclusion goals, intive made a donation to The Nahual educational project – a nonprofit organization that trains people from the most vulnerable sectors of society, giving them the opportunity to seek employment in the IT sector. intive volunteers have been supporting the project for many years now, contributing to the tech training of more than 800 people in Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico.

“The COVID-19 pandemic brought out the importance of digital skills for economic productivity, business resilience and growth in many countries. While education has always been a fundamental part of intive’s social responsibility policy, in 2020 we doubled our efforts to help people acquire digital skills as a hedge against unemployment risks. We believe that increasing digital connectivity should be a collective, continuous effort, and next year we plan on setting new impact targets in this area of CSR.”– said Andres Vior, VP and Country Manager Argentina at intive.

intive’s CSR activities in 2020 also included fostering diversity in the workplace and raising diversity awareness, pivotal for delivering top-notch services and innovative solutions to the company’s global clients.

To promote the dialogue about diversity and inclusion, last autumn intive invited its employees to join a series of dedicated workshops and webinars. Aiming at more efficient communication and raising awareness, intive also appointed designated LGBT+ Ambassadors, whose responsibilities include consulting and support on all LGBT+ related matters and concerns.

In December 2020, intive officially updated its diversity management policies by signing the Diversity Charters in Germany and Poland. In Argentina, where the initiative supported by the European Commission doesn’t apply, intive signed an internal document based on the European charters.

“By driving diversity and encouraging inclusion, we want to ensure our workforce reflects the diversity of the clients and communities we serve. Our goal is to have a working environment that embraces equal opportunities, generates fresh perspectives, empowers people and gives them a true sense of belonging.” – underlined Dagmara Perlak, Senior Marketing and CSR Manager at intive.

Last but not least, last year intive continued to implement its environmental sustainability plans and reduce its carbon footprint. A switch to a remote-first approach at the organization, as well as a reduction in business travels led to a significant decrease of intive’s businesses CO2 emission: 97 thousand kilograms in 2020, which is 75 % less than in 2019. Additionally, during the Plastic Free July month, intive organized a series of webinars on the subject of zero-waste, allowing intive’s employees to better understand the trend and solutions for plastic waste management in the workplace and everyday life.
