How would you describe your last role as Business Designer to someone from another planet?

A Business Designer needs to understand the clients’ expectations, project goals and team strengths and weaknesses. This most of the time is achieved through good communication with the client to understand the requirements and then to clearly relay them back to the team. After gaining this information, the Business Designer helps the team adopt the most suitable agile and software development practices to ensure the product is delivered on time and with high quality.

In hindsight, is there any advice you would give to your younger self starting on this path?

Stay in touch with technology! No matter what the role, always be curious and keep learning about the latest technology as you never know what changes it brings with it and how you can use it to your advantage. Second, I truly believe that one should not skip levels in a job role and become a senior from the get-go. Each job role and each level in that job role is an opportunity to develop a skill that is important to have once you reach that senior level. Therefore, approach each job with utmost sincerity and be patient with your career growth—it will happen. Last, if possible, try a few different roles to discover what you excel at or are more passionate about.  In my opinion, no acquired knowledge or developed skill ever goes to waste :)

Where do you see the most interesting change in the sector you support?

I believe the union of various cloud solutions with AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology is where everyone is going and seems to be making new investments in. Areas such as developer experience, predictive analytics and monitoring, enhanced security, DevSecOps, AI chatbots and cloud solutions such as OpenShift AI is where the shift is happening at a face pace.

What’s your superpower?

In my career particularly, I have been very lucky to work in various roles and get opportunities to work for clients from different industries e.g. Telco, Fintech, Construction, Healthcare, Travel & Automotive) to be able to develop T-shaped skills.

Before joining intive, I was a java developer and later became a web developer (Ruby on Rails) where I got many opportunities to do both back-end and front-end development. Afterward, I worked as a product manager for a small-scale ERP product. In my last job before moving to Ireland, I worked as a lead developer in addition to handling scrum master duties.

After joining intive, I worked as a scrum master, agile consultant, agile trainer, product owner & marketing business partner before becoming a project manager.

What do you love the most about intive?

intive is a hotpot of different cultures and gives me the opportunity to connect with people from various geographies and walks of life, an opportunity I might not have had otherwise. The exchange of ideas is at an amazing pace and reaching out to people is very easy and nearly everyone that I have talked to, even if for the first time have been super nice and helpful which has only enhanced my experience and is a good reason that I have been working in this organization for nearly 6 years now 😊

In addition, the different roles that I have worked as in intive, required me to reach out to different teams and people at locations outside Ireland, which I have thoroughly enjoyed and continue to enjoy even in my current role. I appreciate how much I end up learning from talking to different people alone.
