RTL+ teamed up with intive to develop a fully functioning Roku-certified application that enables the streaming platform to not only increase its number of viewers but also reach new audiences, strengthening the brand’s position in the OTT market.

Working Hand in Hand with the Streaming Player Pioneer

intive worked directly not only with RTL+, German’s leading streaming platform but also with Roku, one of the fastest and most powerful streaming players. After its impressive growth in the U.S OTT market, the digital media company decided to ramp up its hardware business in Europe. With a focus on entering into the German market, Roku began to provide expertise during the RTL+ application development process. Roku and intive have worked together previously and intive is proudly among the officially recommended development partners for designing, enabling, and supporting Roku-certified applications.
A Flawless App Within a Few Months

RTL+ needed to develop and implement a fully functioning and Roku-certified application. To be in line with the company’s rebranding date and Roku’s launch into the German market, the application had to be ready to release in just a few months. intive's experience in developing Roku applications and over twenty years in the TMC market was the driving force behind the project meeting its tight deadline.

An Intercompany Team

An intercompany collaboration, made up of the Product Owner and Scrum Master from RTL+ and the rest of the intive team, worked hand in hand to ensure that the application would be ready in time. intive's developers provided proven skills in building products for media and their profound knowledge of BrightScript, the bytecode-interpreted scripting language which is the key component of the Roku SDK. This experience was crucial in the building of solid channels that would utilize and maximize the Roku hardware.

Maintaining RTL+’s Position

The intercompany team delivered a flawless application within just three and a half months, meeting the deadline and passing the rigid certification process. There was only a small percentage of glitches during the testing phase, proving intive’s technical expertise. The release of the application synchronized with both RTL+’s rebranding and Roku’s entrance into the German market, thus strengthening the client’s position into the OTT market. The application has helped to improve RTL+’s brand exposure, increase its reach, gain more consumer loyalty, and see a boost in its key audience. Additionally, the application allows users to stream content anywhere at any time, increasing comfort and making it easier for viewers to watch their favorite programs.
