Developer Experience (DevEx) is a crucial component of modern software development projects. DevEx helps teams be more collaborative, productive, and creative, all of which leads to better overall job satisfaction for developers.
DevEx is the cumulative experience of the tools, systems, and processes that developers use to do their jobs and encapsulates the overall quality of their work environment. Many developer teams are now using powerful centralized platforms to make DevEx as seamless as possible––intive engineers included.
intive is proud to be a Red Hat partner for over eight years, with six years as a Premier Business Partner. This dedicated partnership allows us to deliver cutting-edge solutions that drive our customers’ business growth.
In a recent webinar hosted by intive, Senior Software Engineer, Veerender Voskula, Full-Stack Engineer, Harshika Ranaweera, and Senior Managed OpenShift Black Belt at Red Hat, Rhys Powell explored how the Red Hat Developer Hub deployed on OpenShift on AWS enhances DevEx, streamlining workflows and facilitating innovation within teams.
Here’s what we discovered.
The Red Hat Developer Hub
The Red Hat Developer Hub is an enterprise-grade Internal Developer Portal (IDP) based on the Backstage software catalog and developer platform and is tailored for seamless integration with Red Hat products. Red Hat Developer Hub provides templates and support approaches, enhancing developer capabilities, simplifying onboarding, and boosting productivity. The platform reduces friction and lets teams focus their energy on code quality.
The Developer Hub is an example of what Red Hat does best––taking open-source software and making it ready and secure for enterprise use. The Developer Hub includes pre-configured plugins and features for immediate use and integration with next-gen Red Hat technologies, saving setup time compared to standalone Backstage.

Red Hat OpenShift on AWS
Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA) is an AWS 1st-tier OpenShift managed service. OpenShift is an opinionated Kubernetes application platform that can be deployed on-premise, in the cloud (self-managed and managed), and even on edge devices.
It provides a consistent platform for teams, enabling businesses to ensure services run where they should while removing much of the complexity of building and supporting infrastructure and platforms. This allows all levels of engineering to focus on delivering value and innovation for the business, helping to ensure that end customers receive the service they need and expect.
What’s more, ROSA also provides zero-downtime upgrades, automated patching, and 24/7 proactive monitoring by Site Reliability Engineers (SREs). This consistent hybrid-cloud experience ensures seamless transitions across environments.
Ensuring Exceptional DevEx through ROSA
By deploying Red Hat Developer Hub on ROSA, intive engineers can leverage the available features to enhance DevEx and drive reliability and flexibility in software infrastructure.
The portal’s pre-installed and community-driven plugins enable CI/CD, monitoring, and workload visualization. Developers can seamlessly create microservices with pre-defined templates and customizable CI/CD options, and access a centralized dashboard to monitor workflows, pipelines, and Kubernetes resources.
Users should be aware that while most worker node instance types are supported, they can consult the CLI tool for specific details. When it comes to monitoring usage costs, teams can use tools within AWS to assign billing against tags and enable insights on clusters.
All of this helps our developer teams accelerate time-to-value, focus on innovation, and ensure operational efficiency.
