To meet Intersport's goals, intive employed a comprehensive approach, starting with a thorough discovery process led by its Design Strategists. This involved extensive market analysis and aligning the perspectives of various stakeholders to craft a clear product vision. The focus was on creating an app that not only served as an entry point for Intersport’s online shop but also boosted customer loyalty by offering services tailored to the German and Austrian markets.
To guarantee exceptional usability of the app, intive’s designers were integral throughout the entire development process, anchoring their work in rigorous quality controls and extensive user testing. Continuous validation ensured that intive’s UX/UI designs resonated effectively with users. From a technical perspective, intive recommended and implemented a Flutter Multi-Platform approach for frontend development.

This strategic decision accelerated time-to-market and maintained a cohesive user experience across different platforms. On the backend, intive implemented a microservice-based architecture. This approach played a critical role as it unified and streamlined the diverse technology stacks used across different countries.
Additionally, intive facilitated the migration of content to Contentful, a move that significantly streamlined content management processes. This enhancement not only met but exceeded Intersport’s expectations, demonstrating intive’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions.

Country-specific features were crucial to the app’s success. In Germany, the app included a Run Club feature, allowing users to participate in running events and track their results, fostering a sense of community and boosting loyalty. In Austria, the app offered ski rental services and appointment bookings for ski fittings and consultations, catering to the specific needs of the local market.
The Intersport loyalty program integrated into the app allowed users to view and redeem points directly during checkout, enhancing the overall shopping experience. Customers could also access and present their loyalty cards in-store via the app, bridging the gap between online and offline shopping experiences.

The initial launch in Fall 2021 for Germany and Austria marked a significant milestone. Following this success, the app was rolled out to additional markets, including the Czech Republic, each with its unique features and technology stacks. This smooth expansion was a testament to the robust and flexible architecture designed by intive. The partnership between Intersport and intive has continued to thrive, with ongoing maintenance and updates ensuring the app’s stability and functionality.
The collaboration remains active till today, with a focus on monitoring and addressing any issues that arise.
