The Challenge
With five brands under one roof, each with unique identities and customer bases, Oberalp Group faced the challenge of modernizing its e-commerce infrastructure while preserving the unique spirit of each brand. A rigid, one-size-fits-all solution wasn’t an option – Oberalp needed an adaptable platform that could unify operations while allowing each brand to maintain its own voice and distinct customer experience.

This was no simple climb – Oberalp needed an expert partner who could navigate technical complexity while ensuring a seamless, tailored shopping journey. intive, with its deep expertise in composable commerce and MACH architecture, became the trusted guide for this transformation.
Our Solution
A Team Ready to Scale New Heights

Success in the mountains – and in digital transformation – depends on good teamwork, resilience, and adaptability. To tackle this challenge, we assembled a dedicated team of up to 27 international experts, scaling resources dynamically to match project demands. The team was divided into two specialized groups: one focused on back-end operations, responsible for integrating Oberalp’s business-critical systems and managing order and purchase workflows, ensuring a seamless fit into the system architecture. The other group drove front-end development, creating an intuitive, dynamic user experience. This structure guaranteed specialized expertise at every phase of the process.

Building a Flexible Yet Solid Foundation

To give Oberalp the tools to reach new heights, we implemented a flexible yet powerful composable architecture. At its core, a single platform provided a solid foundation for all five brands while allowing each to customize its own features, user experience, and storytelling.

MACH architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, and Headless) enabled the rapid development of independent, flexible modules that could be deployed and maintained quickly and easily. This ensured that each brand could innovate independently while benefiting from a shared, flexible infrastructure.

We integrated industry-leading third-party solutions to fine-tune the experience. Algolia powered advanced search capabilities to ensure that customers could find exactly what they were looking for. Commercetools streamlined product management, Amplience optimized content delivery for a more engaging user experience, and Adyen provided end-to-end payment solutions allowing businesses to accept payments across various channels. In addition to this, Avalara ensured seamless tax calculations, keeping Oberalp in full compliance with global standards.

Tech Stack Engineered for Performance

Our technical stack included Vue.js 3 and Nuxt 3 for frontend development, providing a responsive and interactive user experience. TypeScript supported efficiency and maintainability, while Jest and NestJS powered backend development and testing. Together, these technologies created a robust, flexible foundation for Oberalp’s e-commerce ecosystem.

Impact

This transformation equipped Oberalp with a scalable, future-ready platform that balances efficiency with individuality. Each brand retains its distinct identity while benefiting from shared resources and a cutting-edge composable ecosystem.

Thanks to a streamlined, adaptable system, Oberalp can now respond faster to trends, elevate customer engagement, and continuously innovate across its entire portfolio. Each brand stands strong on its own, yet together they form a cohesive, high-performance ecosystem – ready to solve any challenge ahead. With an infrastructure designed to evolve, Oberalp can keep reaching new heights amid the ongoing shifts in outdoor retail.
